I am pleased to announce that the MA(R)S project portal is now live! The platform is fully deployed and accessible at https://mars.algolysis.com/login, providing a robust interface for managing and exploring the MA(R)S system. This marks a major milestone in the project’s development and makes the tools and resources available to all authorized users.
About the Ma(R)S Web Platform: The Ma(R)S Web Platform showcases how our ADSM (Atomic Distributed Shared Memory) algorithms, originally developed in theory, can be applied in practice. The platform uses ADSM algorithms to create Storage Spaces, over a set of distinct, distributed, devices that operate as a unified, resilient, and consistent storage system.
Why is this important? Each Storage Space provides the illusion of a central storage, while securing data from losses (data distribution), allowing the storage to scale dynamically (by adding more devices), and promoting collaboration by allowing multiple users to read/write on the shared data without compromising data consistency (once written is read).
Each Storage Space (ADSM) is continuously monitored by a Monitoring Service, which collects and analyzes metrics related to the health of the devices, resource usage, performance, and availability. This includes information such as device uptime, throughput, I/O latency, and storage capacity. Note that a single Monitoring Service instance can monitor multiple ADSMs.
Using the Platform:
After registering an account, you can use the platform as a regular user to:
- Upload and download files to different Storage Spaces.
- Rename, replace, and share files with other users.
- Monitor the health and performance of devices that are used to implement the storages and host your data
In this test you will participate as a User using the core functionality of the platform. Administrators is another role in the service that have elevated permissions and can create, deploy, manage and manipulate their own Storage Spaces. This functionality sets Ma(R)S apart from any existing storage service.
